The Fluffs of Happiness

The Fluffs of happiness: A small and magical word, which includes a great dose of gratitude, is “Thank you.” Gratitude nourishes our souls and has been shown to be directly related to happiness. N-O lived at the edge of the solar system, on a small planet with the strangest, most beautiful sky! The sky was illuminated by thousands of bright Fluffs; small, fluffy celestial bodies shining from afar. People said that, if you caught them, you would find out that they were very soft and brought real happiness. Oh, how much N-O loved Fluffs! What a pity that they were so very far away… Then, one day, a Fluff fell just beyond N-O’s house! How happy he was! His wishes had come true! A Fluff of his own! But did Fluff make N-O happy? What is happiness, after all?

“It is not happiness that makes us grateful, but gratitude that makes us happy.” David Steindl-Rast

The Connection between gratefulness and happiness: Gratitude nourishes our soul and, as evidenced by studies conducted on children, is directly linked to happiness. This means that developing gratitude at a young age helps children become happier adults. When we talk about gratitude, however, we mean more than just saying a polite “thank you.” Gratitude is a conscious exercise in which children learn to be grateful for what they already have; the small, everyday things we often take for granted.
Scientists claim that gratitude enhances mental flexibility and improves mood and teamwork. Education in the value of gratitude is education in optimism. There are always challenges, obstacles, and complications, but the way we deal with any difficulties that may arise is the real test of mental resilience.
Gratitude teaches us to focus on the moment. When we take the time to look at life from a different perspective, we express gratitude for the things we have and for the people around us. It takes a while, though, to change the way we look at the world and accept things as they are, instead of longing for what they might be.
Gratitude is a useful tool and a skill we can use to live in the here and now, feel more satisfied in the present, and face the future with optimism

The power of thank you: A small and magical word is “Thank you,” which includes a great deal of gratitude. Take a short break and recognize everything around you that is important to you. It may take a while to look at our lives with different eyes, to notice how many blessings we enjoy each day, and to measure the countless reasons we have to feel grateful. Try the following exercises with your children. Whatever style you decide upon, stick with it on an everyday basis to ensure that your children will keep at it even after they’ve grown up. Statistically, it takes at least 21 days for children to adopt a new habit and for gratitude to become a voice within them that will guide them, so that every day they feel more happiness, optimism, love, and satisfaction from life. The only way to get to the 21st day, however, is to start with day one. So let’s forget numbers and focus on practice.
