About Marina

Marina Gioti is an avid explorer of children’s imagination, an author and illustrator of the successful children’s book series “Twice Upon a Time” and the best-selling book for mothers and daughters “One Heart”.

Born in Athens, Greece, Marina studied Marketing and Fine Arts at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., followed by Communication Design and Ιllustration at the Pratt Institute in N.Y. Her books, “Twice upon a time: Little Red Riding Hood” and “Twice upon a time: Little Thumb” were voted among the 10 best picture books in her native Greece in 2016 and 2017. In 1999 she received the John Peter’s Publication Award and Scholarship from the Art Directors’ Club in New York, and has won a Bronze Pentaward for her work in design. Her books, originally written in Greek, have already been translated in English and Italian.

Marina spends her time between Greece and the UK, writing, illustrating and giving book presentations to children and parents. She is a regular contributor to several popular magazines and websites, and a member of the Greek Section of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY).
